Leadership

Timothy Nuernberger

Principal

Timothy earned a Master of Music in classical piano performance from New York University. While deeply rooted in the scholarly and artistic traditions of the conservatory, he ultimately chose to pursue a more tactile path, apprenticing under a master piano technician and rebuilder to learn the full craft of historic instrument restoration at the bench.

In 2016 he founded Nuernberger Piano Company, dedicated to comprehensive rebuilding and conservation of fine instruments. Building on that foundation, he launched Nuernberger & Company in 2021, a boutique atelier specializing in rare, fully restored nineteenth- and early twentieth-century pianos offered with concierge-level service. The same rigor—historical research, material science, structural analysis, precision finishing, and tonal sensitivity—naturally extends to the conservation and reproduction of antique furniture, where complex veneers, period finishes, delicate marquetry, and structural joinery are approached with the same discipline, reversibility standards, and respect for original workmanship that guide his instrument restorations.

Principal

Peter Mielnicki

Peter brings a rare synthesis of architectural training, advanced fabrication expertise, and strategic business acumen. He holds a Master of Architecture from Columbia University and has worked with preservation-focused firms including Peter Pennoyer Architects in New York and Lacaton & Vassal in Paris. These experiences shaped a rigorous sensitivity to historic context, proportion, and material integrity—principles that continue to inform his work across disciplines.

Beyond design, Mielnicki possesses deep technical fluency in CAD and advanced 3D modeling, alongside hands-on mastery of carpentry and metal fabrication. Complementing his craft and architectural expertise, he has advised a range of companies and nonprofit organizations on small business growth strategy and financial management. The result is a practice grounded equally in design intelligence, workshop capability, and operational discipline—an uncommon combination that supports complex, high-caliber projects from concept through execution.
